Sister and I were watching old Pokemon episodes and for 3 episodes they told an abandonment story involving Chimchar. Became one of my favourite episodes in the franchise.

I was texting an old friend last night. I’m an extrovert so I have this intense need to keep in touch with all of my friends and exes and just everybody I’ve ever known.

Somehow, I’m not sure how, the conversation turned to “working out”. So this guy goes “I’ve been working out, but I can’t tell…

I’ve learned this lesson years ago. Yet there are quite a few people I know that still think like the person in question. Which is definitely annoying. A lot of guys out there are easy to jump at any moment a girl is nice to them; Especially the attractive ones. And it’s behaviour like this, that cause genuinely nice girls to refrain from being themselves.

Some stories pair the protagonist with a character similar to themselves. Someone who often share a common goal or perspective, but sometimes go about another way of getting to the “end game”. This character we’ll call “a rival”. In some aspects, this character can be perceived as a bit antagonizing, while others see them as a parallel to the main character.

In this story, I’ve realized I’ve encountered a character that parallels myself on two occasions; encountered them quite some time ago. It wasn’t until today where the plot reveals one of their roles in the story; the “rival”. Where the plot leads from here, is anybody’s guess. But the interesting thing is, in some tales, the rival coincides with the protagonist’s resolve. In others, they prove to be the antagonist.
